Production for the first fictional feature film based on Disney's wildly popular series "Hannah Montana" starring Miley Cyrus kicked off, Disney said Thursday.
Also starring "Hannah Montana" regulars Emily Osment, Jason Earles, Mitchel Musso, Moises Arias and Billy Ray Cyrus, the movie, written b Dan Berendsen and directed by Peter Chelson, is scheduled for a spring 2009 release. Others joining the usual gang will be Melora Hardin, Margo Martindale, Barry Bostwick, Peter Gunn, Lucas Till and Vanessa Williams.
This year's 3-D release of "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour" comprising concert footage and behind-the-scenes clips from Miley Cyrus’ 2007 sell-out Best of Both Worlds Tour, raked in $65.3 million at the box office.
In the meantime, the teen pop sensation is set to release her first full-length album "Breakout" under her own name on July 22. Miley’s previous two albums were released under her Disney moniker, "Hannah Montana."
The album is being released through Disney’s Hollywood Records and her first single, "7 Things," was released to radio last week.
"Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: The Best of Both Worlds Concert" is currently No. 32 on the Billboard 200, while "Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus" (a former chart topper) is currently No. 66.
