Disney Postpones ‘Hannah Montana’ Diabetes Episode

The Disney Channel usually bends over backward when it comes to anything related to its pride and joy, teen idol Miley Cyrus. E! News confirmed Saturday, however, that the season premiere of the network’s flagship sitcom, “Hannah Montana,” had been indefinitely postponed over concerns it might not treat diabetes in a serious enough light.

“No Sugar, Sugar,” an episode originally scheduled to air Nov. 2, was to introduce Cyrus co-star Mitchel Musso’s character, Oliver, as a diabetic. Though a Disney spokesperson told E! News advice from medical experts had been incorporated into the script, a strong response from concerned parents shown a preview of the finished product gave the company cold feet.

“Notwithstanding the measures we took, and based on the episode’s preview and early feedback from parents, we removed the episode from Sunday’s schedule and are now reevaluating it,” the rep said.

An installment of the show originally scheduled to air later in the season preempted the controversial piece. It was not immediately clear if Disney would reshoot all or part of “No Sugar, Sugar” or scrap it altogether.

Diabetes is a metabolic disorder causing abnormally high levels of blood sugar in those with the disease. As a result, diabetics must limit their intake of foods high in sugar and, in some cases, regularly inject themselves with hormone insulin.

Miley Cyrus used to clean toilets

Hannah Montana actress Miley Cyrus used to clean toilets before becoming famous. Cyrus, who made 18.2 million dollars last year, revealed on the Tyra Banks Show that she was eleven when she worked as a cleaner at a place called 'Sparkles' and cleaned houses.

"I had one normal job and I actually liked it," US magazine quoted Miley, as saying. "I worked at this place called Sparkles Cleaning Service and I cleaned houses. I was, like, 11 ... I can scrub a toilet," she added.

Meanwhile, the '7 Things' hitmaker wants to get a Mercedes as a gift on her 16th birthday, which is few days away.
